About the house

Les Lucarnes is situated in Belves, a spectacular mediaval town. The cottage is in the historic part of the village of Belves. It has been restored to provide a master bedroom, a second bedroom and a third bedroom furnished with two single beds, a large sitting room, two shower rooms with toilets, a dining/sitting room opening to a modern kitchen.

French doors open onto the balcony giving spectacular views over the Nauze valley. The house can sleep up to 6 people.

The kitchen has a microwave and an electric stove. The cottage has a telephone, central heating, TV, DVD, internet and washing machine. The garden has a terrace and overlooks the valley.

Location and nearby sights

Belves is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The town was originally established as a typical hill-crest settlement and has been inhabited since the dawn of time. All facilities are available including a supermarket, bakeries, etc. The local wines are also available and include the wines of Monbazillac, Percharmant and many others. The village has three restaurants and a fantastic market on Saturday morning.

There is a modern swimming pool and the Dordogne River only a couple of miles to Siorac. For the active traveller; Randonnees, a system of the national walking pathways has several paths and suggested walks in the region, flights over the Dordogne, canoeing and a golf course is nearby.

The food and wine is well known in the region. The wine regions and the fertile valleys produce some of the best wines in the world. The region produces truffles, fois gras, confit de canard, d’oie, porc, pintard, trout and many other river fish, cepes, walnuts, plums, peaches and strawberries.

Nearby villages less than 30 minutes away include:

  • La Roque Gageac, river cliff village
  • Limeuil, confluence of two rivers
  • Lascaux, prehistoric caves
  • Les Eyzies, museum of prehistory
  • Beynac, fortified chateau and village
  • Monpazier, bastide village.

Within an hour’s drive, you can visit Sarlat, Bergerac and Perigueux. Bordeaux, Cahors, Brantome and Toulouse are within a couple of hours.

Les Lucarnes is accessible by air to Paris or Toulouse. Smaller airports are in Bordeaux, Perigueux and Bergerac.
